Amazon to Enter Travel Market

World’s biggest e-retailer is all set to enter the overcrowded travel market. The company is in talks with a number of hotels across the US for a tie-up and work out contracts for commissions on booking.

Although the travel market is buzzing with players, there is still room for newcomers to step up. Especially when the newbie is Amazon who has a user base that runs into millions, there is definitely success written all over it.

Booking hotel rooms is a no-brainer, it does not take considerable planning and effort from the e-commerce player. Unlike selling books, there is no logistics involved nor do they have to handle returns.

It is reliably learned that Amazon will feature a limited number of quality hotels per destination. And provide the traveler with all the pertinent information regarding the things to do in the city, the sightseeing places and local tips that generally come in handy. The hotels were picked based on TripAdvisor ratings.

For their part in the sale, Amazon will receive 15 percent of the revenue.

Amazon is sure to shake up the travel industry when it does execute its plans and will alter the travel market hugely, not only in the US but also in other geographies where they are present.
